Not quite getting what you thought you had asked for is a problem many of us have experienced before – in life and business. For award-winning digital accountants Linford Grey Associates, this meant being saddled with a website that was sort-of-not-bad, but inconsistently branded, tangled-up in software dependencies, and much too frustrating for the team to maintain. In other words, it just wasn’t quite right.
Sophie Redman-Singh, Head of Media & Marketing, explains:
“Our website was built by an external marketing agency. We had a vision of what it would look like and were promised our vision was achievable but, in short, it wasn’t.
“We ended up with a website which was difficult to manage in-house and having to continuously go back to the agency when we wanted to make the smallest of amends or changes. This also meant that we were constantly being billed for work and waiting a long time for the amends to be implemented, which we could otherwise easily have done ourselves.”
Linford Grey contacted Satur9 to see what could be done with their existing website – not only to get it working for them again (instead of against them), but to turn it into a tool they could be proud of showing off.
First up, it was discovered that pages, web forms and blogging features were all de-coupled from the website itself. With WordPress being the base platform, it made sense to instead have everything under one roof. Therefore, various third-party apps and tools were removed and merged into the main system – streamlining the administration and removing licensing expenditures.
Next, design changes were implemented across the entire website. The key updates here included:
Sophie, continues:
“Lewis has helped us create the website we had envisioned – now it’s more like our original brief and vision. It’s been a pleasure working with him and he’s been extremely helpful working with the structure we already had rather than having to build a completely new website.
“He always explains everything thoroughly and in a normal way, which is a godsend for those who don’t 100% understand websites or coding.”
Video has also been a medium that Linford Grey has newly embraced for its social channels and wider marketing, so this was more closely implemented into their website for a joined-up approach. Blog posts and employee profiles display video content, alongside a specially recorded film for the homepage.
Video content plays a much larger role in Linford Grey’s website, helping to keep their visitors engaged.
Sophie, in closing:
“We are extremely happy with the work he’s done so far and continue to work with him. We are very pleased to have Lewis as our web support and would highly recommend working with him.
“Now that we have a website that we’re really proud of, we are confident in sharing and promoting it and we have received some great feedback. There has also been an increase in organic traffic and inquiries, which is what every business wants.”
